One of the most rewarding aspects of my job as Chief Executive Officer of the St. Francis Medical Center Foundation is making it possible for our institution to provide incomparable care and compassion to our patients. 

“Serving the sick poor” is at the heart of St. Francis Medical Center. Collectively, we can build on this and ensure quality healthcare—that of the whole person, body, mind and spirit — for our patients of today and for those of tomorrow.

In a world that expresses so many destructive elements against the family, faith, commitment and morality, it is important for this healthcare ministry to reflect the positive qualities of life to our patients and their families.  We endeavor to do this by providing the best medical care in an environment of compassion.  Our patients, rich or poor, all deserve the best treatment and the most outstanding care. 

The only way we can provide top-level care to those who cannot afford to pay for it is through the financial support of people like you.  On behalf of the 500,000 people who receive charitable care and community benefits from St. Francis Medical Center and its programs each year, I say thank you for your generosity.

Our promise is wrapped in the many examples of care shown to the close to 7,000 babies born each year at the hospital. It is embodied in the heroic stories of the emergency department staff saving the lives of gun shot victims and the 75,000 patients who walk through our doors each year.  As you reflect on the commitment of St. Francis Medical Center to the greater Los Angeles community, I hope you are convinced that we have kept our promise to those in need. 

We have an obligation to bring the highest quality of service to the families we serve.  But our ability to provide for people in need is only proportional to the generosity of our friends and supporters.
