The Student Volunteer Scholarship, in the amount of $500, is given by the Foundation to assist a student volunteer in reaching their educational and career goals. This year's recipent is a volunteer who began her service here in the Summer of 2010 in the Nutrition Department. Since then she has faithfully given time three days a week with unwavering dedication and hard work. Aside from her active volunteering and extracurricular activities, she attends Firebaugh High School and is a stellar student. Her teachers report that she possesses a great attitude and is a very dedicated, caring student. This Volunteer has a strong desire to help children and would like to someday become a Pediatrician.
The Nutrition Team reports that:
“When she first started in the diet office her duties included assisting with paperwork but she has gone above and beyond the call of duty and took on many other responsibilities such as delivering late trays without being asked. She is always smiling, respectful and goes about doing her tasks with a lot of devotion and humbling attitude. She is an asset to our department and St. Francis Medical Center. Her dedication is worth recognizing as she has proactively alleviated patient care delays by helping out where she can.”
This years scholarship went to Erica Zacarias.
